Hi,

I had upgraded to 6.3, and suddenly I discovered that clicking on downloads links pointing to http:\\rapidshare.com cause a 0 bytes download instead of the file. I did not investigate on the root cause.

I tried reinstalling the 6.2 and it just worked back again. So the 6.3 has definitely a BUG.

I HAVE ROLLED BACK NOW TO 6.2

This is a major outage on Getright FTP download logic, please Fix it soon.

Regards.

I am experiencing the same bug, which is very frustrating. It doesn't do it with every single file, but rather every second one, which is way weird. I've watched it happen: download window opens, it thinks for a few seconds, then it decides that the download is complete and moves to the next file. It's seriously annoying having to go back and re-add files again and again.

Anti-mix, can I ask how you rolled back? Did you just install the 6.2a exe over the 6.3 one or did you completely uninstall first? I'm keen to downgrade as well.

EDIT: I couldn't find my 6.2a install so I uninstalled 6.3 and reinstalled version 5.2b. Works like a charm.

Same bug here! Many files that I start to download from rapidshare.com get interrupted and the file size is 0 Bytes. I must try to download files again and again...
I'm experiencing the bug with segmented downloads... haven't tried it on non-segmented ones.

When it does that for a Premium account download, could you post or PM or email michael :atsign: getright.com the debug info described here: www.getright.com/debug.html

On my PC (and free rapidshare), if I start a download and let it finish, it works OK. But pausing and then restarting, or just adding to the list and trying later--the link has expired.

if i download any file from rapidshare via inet explorer everything seems to be ok, but if i cue it in the downloadlist of getright and try to download from that, i only get a small file.

in this case ife tried to download my own uploaded 3dmark05.exe from this link:
http://rapidshare.co...Mark05.exe.html
the file has 3mb.
if i copy and paste this link to the inetexplorer i can download the file. but if i add this link as new url in getright i only get a 0byte file.

heres the debug information:

Same problem here 6.3 latest update(online update and went to the site to be sure).
Premium member for rapidshare. Sporadic dnloads at best, you never know when it'll bug out
and when you'll have a string of *gasp* F O U R complete files.

Seeing as Rapidshare was the reason I bought Getright, it's more than a little aggravating.

Please look into what's going on over there please?

If there's anything at all I can do ... short of slitting my veins, naming a firstborn *michael*, etc
I'm more than willing to do it. Log it, paste it, run a debug version, anything,... just lemme continue
dnloading my daily terabytes! ;)

If you want download well, download from a good server; download a good file instead of a crack/patch/illegal version like all files distributed in Rapidshare. RS is bad for the software industry, even if it's good for final users... But hey, almost all illegal files hosted in RS are available with other mirrors; if perhaps RS host any legal file, of course it is not be the best mirror for them.

Perfect programs don't exist, and if you want any of them to fix bugs, you'll need to help in the tests, i.e. "log it, paste it, run a debug version, anything,..."

Of course, GetRight fixes would happen faster if they had more programmers, even one with more free time...

From Retrotek,
I will keep looking for some additional information in the forum but I thought that I would reply to this post.
I just installed 6.3 after using 6.0 for many years. 6.0 worked with rapidshare.
On 6.3 The patch seems to work for me but only downloads in 1 of my 4 open boxes. That could
be a setup configuration on my part though. Still learning the new program.
But thanks for making the patch available. At least I know my upgrade was not a waste.
Ret.

One of the biggest difficulties with Rapidshare is their URLs all expire quite quickly (minutes, many an hour).

So when you add a file, you can't wait to actually download it later--by the time you do, the URL usually has expired. I keep working, but there's not a good way around that.

That simply does not apply to most (if not all) of the posts in the thread.

It's not as if we were trying to make something that no longer exists at
the other end appear magically on our computers. Every single time I try
and download files from Rapidshare.com I verify the URL(s) to be sure that
I'm not running after ghosts. When the verified URLs show a value other
than 0 or 5 Kbytes, I'm quite sure that there is a file to be downloaded
and not just a page saying *file has been removed etc...*

When Getright starts acting up, clear my cache, including my
Rapidshare cookie(s), I reboot, log onto my account at
Rapidshare and give Getright another shot.

Rarely do I go berserk with the sheer quantity (Gigs) that I download
and even then, if Getright gives me a problem I promptly try from my
browser to do the download.

As far as how I enter them into GetRight Pro, I enter them by .grx, so there's
no interplay with flashgot etc.

As stated in an earlier post of mine, if there's anything I can do to be of assistance,
let me know.

!!!! Redirected to New Location < - seems to be the most common part
of the error messages

Thanks for your attention and best of luck in getting this particular thorn out of your side.
Regards,
CD canada

I thought I recognized a line in there... took me a bit to realized you'd quoted me.
As far as the log it, paste it, run a debug version...
Well...
If no one asks exact questions of me/us the users... how are we to know what's relevant?
As for the *more programmers bit* I can only cite one other program(totally irrelevent
to this one) where that was an answer for the longest of times.
Ultraedit... it's now in the Version 13 ... and still there's been no solution to taskbar icons
getting zapped and mangled confused reset... but hey... we'll wait until that bunch has
50+ programmers to solve it?

Michael: don't be offended by the tone of this post, I realize how difficult debugging can be
I've been a cnc programmer since the late 70's. My hat does go off to you on this particular
program which keeps getting better and better. This one wee bug is just p*ssing me right off!
LOL... Workarounds will have to do until there's a fix/patch etc.

Hi Michael,

I traced the TCP session, and it seems Getright does not interpret correctly the "Redirect" directive the Web server gives.
Basically in Rapidshare exists the possibility to bypass all the selections and clicks, and get directly the file. This is available to paying users that can configure their profile. Once a user have set up the DIRECT LINK option GetRight stop to work.

Here is what Happen:

We pass the URL to getright, and Getright SEND the following:

GET /files/999999999/Demo.avi HTTP/1.1
Host: rapidshare.com
User-Agent: GetRight/6.3 (Pro)
Accept: */*
Cookie: user=12345-%31%32%33%34%35%36
Referer: http://rapidshare.co...9999/index.html
Accept-Encoding:
Pragma: no-cache
Cache-Control: no-cache

and then GetRight RECEIVE from the Site the following answer:

HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily
P3P: CP="ALL DSP COR CURa ADMa DEVa TAIa PSAa PSDa IVAa IVDa CONa TELa OUR STP UNI NAV STA PRE"
Date: Tue, 21 Aug 2007 17:24:43 GMT
Connection: close
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Location: http://rs169l3.rapid...999999/Demo.avi
Content-Length: 0

Note that the web server try to redirect Getright using the Location: directive.

at this point, GetRight does not understand what to do and suddenly stops to communicate, and create a Demo.avi of 0 bytes !!!

;) On the contrary THIS IS WHAT GETRIGHT SHOULD HAVE SENT just after exchanging the last message using the URL parsed in Location Parameter:

GET /files/999999999/Demo.avi HTTP/1.1
Accept: */*
Accept-Language: en-gb,en-us;q=0.5
UA-CPU: x86
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Host: rs175l3.rapidshare.com
Proxy-Connection: Keep-Alive
Cookie: user=12345-%31%32%33%34%35%36

and the web site would have answered:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Tue, 21 Aug 2007 17:24:43 GMT
Connection: close
Content-Type: application/octet-stream
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Content-Disposition: Attachment; filename=Demo.avi
Content-Length: 23080162

RIFF............... <<----- Binary data of the file... for FTP transfer...

So, it is easy now for you fix once for all the BUG. This did not happen on the old version.
I hope to see soon the updated version.

Cheers.

Roberto
