Another Build!

GetRight: http://www.get-right.com/gr6.zip
GetRight Pro: http://www.get-right.com/gr6pro.zip

These is a new EXE to replace the one you have. Download that, then close GetRight. You should copy the files in the .ZIP file into your GetRight folder, normally C:\Program Files\GetRight\

Feb 26; 6.2+01
  • Improved some appearance things for Vista...better toolbars, and a "Vista" color set for the graph.
  • Fixed filefront downloads that all were named X6
  • Fix how small files could show the byte size in the percent spot.
  • Fixed some games button problems with XP in classic Windows look--could have been no icon.
  • Added %TITLE% and %ITEMTITLE% as variable options for Podcast downloader default folders.
March 12; 6.2a
  • Fixed the image things I'd broken in +01 :) Menu/About graphic, etc.
  • Tweaked the mouse-over menu items a bit.
  • A few other little fixes.
March 27; 6.2a+01
There's some good things in this one!
  • Working on some improvements that hopefully will help the IE integration with Vista. (Run the RUN_ME.EXE file to install the updated click DLL.)
  • Alpha channels for toolbars and window graphics...8 bits prettier! A few of the graphics changed a bit, but most are the same, just nicer--and the few that changed are hopefully better. (There were lots of green play buttons in the graphics we bought, where before there were blue...so now there's more green.)
  • Fixed restoring window locations, X and Width was mixed up in one spot.
  • Added so internal DNS cache is cleared every hour (to help with dynamic sites.)
And added a registry item so it can be disabled completely.
    HKCU\Software\Headlight\GetRight\Config
    GetRightCacheDNS = 0
  • Fixed podcast downloader to handle some podcasts better (if new items are added at the bottom vs added at the top.)
  • Changed the "shutdown when done" so the options (shutdown/hibernate/etc) are in the menus and toolbar button instead of on the Advanced tab. Makes it much easier to choose just what you want to do each time. And combined so "hangup when done" is now just another option there if you've got modem settings turned on.
  • Adjusted the Schedule Start and Stop options to match the new Shutdown (so choices there too.)
  • Fixed alignment on Import window.
  • Added so Pro's Web Access can accept a list of URLs to add multiple downloads at once. On the tools webpage, there's just a textbox to do it.
  • Fixed some "classic" graphic items (didn't have them for Podcasts or Scripts).
  • Fixed some XML processing for large XML files (Podcasts, Metalink, etc.)
  • Added a message if privileges (from a Vista limited account) are preventing GetRight from deleting the Startup shortcut.
March 27; 6.2a+02 (hour or so after +01).
  • Fixed problems with FTP downloads thru HTTP proxies.
April 7; 6.2a+03
  • Fixed some images on the download window buttons when using the "classic" XP look or older versions of Windows.
  • Fixed several BitTorrent and BitTorrent + HTTP/FTP things.
  • Fixed download status menu/toolbar items not being grayed out correctly when opening.
  • Fixed uninstalling old Opera plugins.
  • Increased daily download registered user limit to 500
  • Improved some podcast processing speeds and problems, especially for very large ones.
  • Added warning message if trying to download to \Program Files\ in Windows Vista.
  • TIP: If you ran the RUN_ME from 6.2a+02 or +01, you don't need to run it again.
May 7; 6.2a+04
  • Added a button on the Save As "Options" button window--to change the default folders--just is a shortcut to the right config page. (Had a couple people email they couldn't find where to change it...hopefully that's the sort of place they were looking.)
  • Fixed how the port got cropped to por on the FTP Proxy tab.
  • Fixed the .getright file type icon (fix is in the installers, so can't see in these test builds.)
  • Changed some splash graphics and deleted some unneeded things in the new Alpha channel ones to make the file size smaller, about 700K smaller than +03.
  • A few other things I forgot to write down.
June 7; 6.2a+05
  • Fixed to add new items at the top/bottom of Download Status depending on sort order and new download's order.
  • Fixed some strange redirecting things that affected some podcast sites.
  • Some more checks to help catch Vista downloads.
  • Added "Find Files" button that copies the new FileMirrors category menus (new.filemirrors.com, see the separate announcement here: http://getright.invi...?showtopic=1299)
  • Improved handling of download.php sorts of filenames.
  • And as usual, a few other things I forgot to write down.
June 11; 6.2a+06
  • Fixed some bugs with Vista click monitoring (if several registry spots.)
  • Fixed some incorrect links in the Find Files button.
June 21; 6.3
  • This should fix any problems with Vista/XP and DEP (Data Execution Protection.)
  • Pretty much the same as +06 otherwise :)

Nice fixes! Toolbar is now a true one in Vista! Now I'm waiting the vista-compatible drop-down menus ;)
(Don't hurry however)

More work for Michael (beyond my bugs topic):
  • Still saving as X6 for filefront downloads. Don't we need an updated xx2gr.dll?

  • I don't know why, but when GetRight starts, Windows Defender is using too much CPU; it seems it is having some trouble with the resident protection to scan GR.

  • "Minimize to tray" button in the download window is still being messed after changing from Classic to XP default theme in this order.
    Posted Image

  • Games button description ("Games") is being cut when there is no space in the download window. For consistency with the other buttons I think the download window minimum size should fit its description; and if user disable that button, GR allow a new minimum size for that window.

  • Mirror Details background color is messed after changing from XP Default to Classic theme while there is a download window open.

Oops, the graphic in the menu and on the About are just bugs...will fix those (nothing to do with Vista, just bugs with some bitmap optomizing I was trying to do).

I like the toolbars in Vista too (and the Vista graph colors turned out nice too)! I'll be seeing what other Vista effects I can do...it's a bit more work since I need to do it so that it won't break anything for everybody with XP or even Win98 or Win95!

Actually, the Games button shrinking itself is intentional. I wanted you to still be able to shrink the window as small as before even with the new button...so if there isn't space for the full button, it switches to just an icon.

Just was switching from Classic to XP looks...even Explorer had some weird things (toolbars disappeared!) Doesn't happen often, so I'll put it lower on my TODO list; most people stick with one look :)

And that little "minimize to tray icons" will be a LOT harder with Vista. By default, Vista simply doesn't let you draw anything there...and so far it seems to draw Something, I'd have to draw Everything for the window caption and borders.

The FileFront X6 thing worked right when I just tried...what web browser are you using (I'm using IE)?

I'm using IE 7 as always. Latest xx2gr.dll is the one from Jan-04-2007 right?

No problem with the Basic theme (the ugly one for graphic cards not compatible with the Pixel2 cruel thing).

My question was about consistency with the other buttons behavior: "For consistency with the other buttons I think the download window minimum size should fit its description; and if user disable that button, GR allow a new minimum size for that window."

I too have the graphical problems that "Erroneus" has described above. The problem involve both the tray-popup-menu and the About-window.

I am using WinXP SP2 (italian) and not WinVISTA. GR 6.2+01 English UI.

B.T.W. ..... THANKS for your efforts to improve GR. Thank You.

Yeah, is just a graphic bug...will be fixed in +02 :)

And before someone asks, just been adding so the speed graph has choices for dark/light background + all the colors. So could do red on the new Vista-light background or whatever combination you want. (Though gray on the light background isn't too visible!) Just right click the graph for the menu of choices.

Tryed GetRight Pro+01 and found some "improvement": classic icons become crap. Copy the code from below into notepad and save the file as .eml, then double-click and You should see the mail with a picture attached: look at the picture.
PS Doesn't it seem to you guys that attach a file to a post is a modern and useful feature? At least much more useful than inserting URLs to the 3rd-party sites and such workaround like I do in this post (still can't find how to attach a file in a thread started by someone else).
PSS Doesn't it seem to you that there are more important questions than painting checkers on a taxi? I've posted at least 2 bugs last week and there is no progress for any of them. (Sorry if question is out of address: I don't know division of a labour in Your team).

It doesn’t work for me at Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird and probably at the Office Outlook too.

But I think you have only 500KB of space and it seems attachments are disabled only at this Announcements forum (you can note that you can post attachments on any other forum).

Why dont you just upload the image to imageshack or similar service?

I would NEVER copy paste that and save as an .eml file to open in Thunderbird. It could actually easly be some sort of exploit containing virus.

...
Feb 26; 6.2+01

Thanks Michael,

You are so timely with your fixes. I got the X6 problem with filefront so I decided to look for an update to GetRight and lo and behold-- problem Fixed. :D

Could you please place a second pinned announcement for betas in the bug section of the forum? I know that I have to try and remember  where to it every time you mention an update so I am sure newbies really go nuts  trying to locate it. You might actually move it so only people reporting bugs actually know where it is.

It would be greatly appreciated,

JW 'Yawn' vanLohuizen

P.S. Yeah :excl: :excl: :excl: Seamonkey 1.1.1 has fixed the html coding problems :excl: :excl: :excl:

Michael,

This is a problem in the XP version as well.

P.S.

Michael, I replied to this one prior to reading the previous posts :o, so I now see where you have already address this one and as usual you are on top of things.

Thanks...
